Tech support

Default Rosetta font format

Rosetta Type Foundry offers only OpenType fonts in its e-shop. OpenType is a multi-platform Unicode-compatible and widely supported font format. However, not all applications are able to use all available features OpenType can provide. Please, refer to this article if you are not certain whether your software supports the features included in our fonts: An Introduction to OpenType Substitution Features (see the table Which feature works in which program?)

The features included in our fonts vary. Nevertheless, they are clearly listed in the font previews. For more detail see the PDF specimens.

Other font formats

Please, contact us directly if you need a different font format (TrueType, Type 1, fonts with AAT tables, …). Such formats are provided on custom basis.

Support for Arabic

Our Arabic fonts rely on a so-called Arabic OpenType layout which is a standard supported by the following operating systems and desktop applications:
  • Windows XP and above
  • Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and above
  • Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, …) CS ME and above
  • Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, AfterEffects,…) CS4 and above*
  • MS Word 2010 (that is MS Word on Windows, not the Mac version)
  • Mellel 2.2–2.7 and above
  • TextEdit on Mac OS X 10.5 and above
  • Flash Player 10
  • XeTeX
  • and many other applications
*) You need to use ready-made templates, scripts, or plug-ins in order to activate the hidden Adobe’s World-ready Composer. You can find more information in the article World-Ready Composer in Adobe CS4.

Note: As far as we know iWork applications (Keynote, Pages, Numbers) do not support Arabic fonts with OpenType layout.
